11th Class Grade Calculator 2026 – New Grading System & 40% Rule

The 2026 HSSC Part-I result is the first 11th class result in Punjab to use the new IBCC grading system. Marks are now placed in ten grade bands, from A++ down to U, and the passing threshold has moved from 33% to 40%. The old A-1 to F table no longer applies to the 2026 first-year result.

Use the calculator below to check your subject-wise percentage, the grade each paper falls into, and your overall percentage. You type in your own obtained and total marks for each subject, so it works for Pre-Medical, Pre-Engineering, ICS, I.Com and FA students alike.

This calculator follows the IBCC grading bands for the 2026 First Annual Examination. It is an estimate for your guidance only. Your board’s official result card, including its rounding rule, is final.

How to Use the 11th Class Grade Calculator

  1. Select your group. The common subject names load automatically, and you can rename, remove or add subjects to match your own subject combination.
  2. Enter the obtained marks for each subject as shown on your result or answer-book estimate.
  3. Enter the total marks for that subject. For science subjects with a practical, use the combined theory and practical total.
  4. Tap Calculate grade to see each subject’s percentage and grade, your overall percentage, and any paper that falls below 40%.

The calculator does not fix total marks for any group, because subject totals can differ between courses and subject combinations. Use the totals printed on your roll-number slip, your board’s scheme of studies or your result card.

New 11th Class Grading System 2026 – Official Grade Bands

The Inter Boards Coordination Commission (IBCC) issued the revised grading formula through Notification No. IBCC/182/Imp-03(ii)/7-1/2025, dated 29 September 2025. It was approved in the 182nd IBCC meeting held on 7–8 August 2025. The scheme applies from the First Annual Examination 2026 for SSC-I and HSSC-I, which means 9th and 11th class. For SSC-II and HSSC-II (10th and 12th class), it starts from the First Annual Examination 2027.

Some pages quote example ranges such as 70%–74% for grade B. The formal notification sets 71%–75% as B, and this calculator follows the notification.

The full explanation of the 33% to 40% change is in our 11th Class Passing Marks 2026 guide.

How Your Grade Is Calculated

The formula is simple:

Percentage = (Obtained marks ÷ Total marks) × 100

The percentage is then placed in the matching grade band. Three examples on a 75-mark paper:

  • 64 out of 75 = 85.33%, which falls in the 81%–85% band, so the grade is B++ (Excellent).
  • 30 out of 75 = 40.00%, which is exactly the passing threshold, so the grade is D (Emerging).
  • 29 out of 75 = 38.67%, which is below 40%, so the paper is U (Ungraded).

One mark separates D from U in the last two examples. Under the old 33% rule, 29 out of 75 would have counted as a pass.

Minimum Marks Needed to Reach 40%

The table below shows the 40% mark for common paper totals. Where 40% is not a whole number, round up to the next whole mark to stay at or above the threshold.

What Does the U Grade Mean in the 11th Class Result?

U stands for Ungraded and applies to marks below 40%. It replaces the old “F” band. Federal Board’s notification for the same scheme states that candidates who do not qualify are eligible to reappear, subject to the other stipulated conditions.

For Punjab students, the exact reappear arrangement for HSSC Part-I papers is set out in each board’s result gazette. Check the rules printed with your board’s 2026 HSSC Part-I result rather than assuming an older rule still applies.

Will Marks Still Appear on the 2026 Result Card?

Yes. According to IBCC, the first phase began in 2026 with grade 9 and grade 11, and absolute scores are also reported alongside grades during this stage. GPA has been deferred until all examination boards adopt the new grading scheme.

IBCC also states that the new grading system does not change the paper pattern, marking scheme, difficulty level or curriculum. Your papers were marked the same way as before. Only the grade bands and the passing threshold have changed.

Why the Calculator Result May Differ From Your Board Result

Your calculated percentage should match your board result in most cases. A small difference can come from:

  • Rounding: boards may round percentages in their own way, for example at a band boundary such as 95.5%.
  • Practical marks: leaving out the practical component changes both the obtained and total marks.
  • Subject combination: a wrong total for an elective subject changes the percentage.
  • Special result remarks: “result later”, “withheld”, absent, or marks-improvement cases follow separate board rules.
  • Grace marks or rechecking: any board-approved change after the result updates the final marks.

The Punjab Boards 11th class result is scheduled for 22 October 2026 at 10:00 AM. Check the latest status on our 11th Class Result Date 2026 page.
